DIY Rustic Pallet Frames

As you may or may not know, I am knee deep in a garage, mudroom and kitchen addition.  Each week we've had a few deliveries, which all resulted in pallets full of material being delivered to the house.  Pallets that cost $15.00 a piece.  I used 2 of them to make a  workbench/bar  and was determined to use another pallet for another project, frames. I started out by using the circular saw to cut the pallet apart.   I planned on stacking four boards horizontally, so I cut enough pieces to make two frames.  I didn't worry so much about making them even, I just wanted to get the pallet apart.  I later used a chop saw to cut them all to the same length.  I also cut a scrap piece of lauan to use as the support for the back of my frame. I used regular wood glue to glue the pallet boards to the lauan.   Once I got all my boards lined up I grabbed a bag of fertilizer (it was the closest and heaviest thing outside) and set it on top to dry ......

Strawberry Banana Chocolate Chip "Ice Cream"

A simple and tasty frozen treat using strawberries, bananas and chocolate chips!  In an effort to use my extremely overripe bananas I decided to try the very popular banana ice cream.  I am a very picky banana eater, so it never fails that I end up with bananas leftover at the end of the week.  I'm also a late night chocolate eater, so I was hoping banana ice cream would be a healthier alternative to my late night chocolate cravings.   My daughter is also lactose intolerant and can't eat regular ice cream and this sounded like a great alternative for her. I was a little skeptical about bananas turning into ice cream and it actually tasting good.  It just didn't seem really appealing to me, but with the addition of strawberries and chocolate, now that sounded amazing.  That's it, three ingredients make you creamy delicious healthy ice cream. Just slice 3-4 bananas and about 1 cup of strawberries and place on a lined cookie she......

New Hallway Light Update

Updating our hallway with a new glass globe pendant! Ever since I shared my hallway update with the new rug and updated gallery wall, I've been on the hunt for a new light fixture.  The current one wasn't bad, it just wasn't my style anymore.  On one of my recent lunch break trips to Lowe's, I saw this clear glass light fixture that I thought would be perfect for the hallway.  I snapped a picture and asked for your opinion on Instagram  and you all seemed to love the light as much as I did. The next day, I headed back to Lowe's and bought the light!   I LOVED it, but my husband was less than thrilled with my purchase.  He HATED it!  Somehow I not only convinced him that it would look great, but also to install it for me.  I had all intentions of installing it myself, but I think he may have been a little concerned I wouldn't be able to tackle it alone.  I mean, I turned off the breaker, what's the worst that......

How to make a workbench out of pallets

Using pallets for projects has been around for years and is one of the most common DIY materials.  If you google "pallet projects" you would probably come up with millions of pictures and tutorials.  Today, I'm not sharing anything new and it's probably old news to many, but I'm beyond thrilled to be sharing this project with you all today.  In case you can't tell, I'm pretty darn proud of myself. My husband is a project manager and comes across pallets often.  I asked him to grab me a couple for a project and he quickly obliged.  I really wanted to make my own workbench for our garage we are building and pallets seemed to be the perfect (and cheapest) option. Let me first say, that I am no expert and I'm sure some people will read this and wonder why I did what I did.  I'm just sharing what worked for me to hopefully inspire others. I knew I wanted a rustic look, so I grabbed the oldest pallet we had and cut it in half using a circula......
