7 Inspirational and clever ways to inexpensively add character to your walls!
I'm certainly no stranger to painting, planking, wallpapering or paneling the walls in my home. It's the easiest and most effective way to add character to a room without spending a lot of money. It also tends to be the first thing I do when I get bored with a room and considering that I've tried many different wall treatments, I thought it would be fun to do a round up of my 7 favorites.
HOW TO ADD CHARACTER TO YOUR WALLS
Wallpaper
Wallpaper is a great way to go beyond your comfort zone by adding fun designs and bold colors to your walls.
Stencils
If wallpaper isn't your thing, stencils are a great alternative for adding eye-catching detail to your walls. The great thing about stencils is that you have endless paint color options that can be customized to match your room.
Did you think that was real brick? Yeah, me too!
Fabric
Fabric is another great alternative to wallpaper. Regardless if you cover an entire wall or the back of a bookcase, it makes a major statement to any room.
Board and Batten
There are many different styles and options of board and batten. No matter what design you choose it instantly gives your room a custom look for less.
Planked Walls/Shiplap
Ahh, shiplap. Thanks to Chip and Joanna Gains (Love them!) this is probably the most popular option for sprucing up your walls. It's also a very inexpensive option and can be installed fairly quickly.
Vinyl Decals
This is a great temporary option, especially if you are renting. Vinyl comes in an abundance of fun colors and shapes and is super easy to apply and remove.
Stripes
There's nothing more classic than stripes, so why not add them to your walls for a timeless look.
Sharpie
Decorating your walls with sharpies is a great option for those that aren't handy with a saw or paint brush. With a little imagination, your walls can be turned into beautiful pieces of artwork.
Classy Clutter
Faux Brick
Faux Brick
Not all of us are fortunate enough to live with beautifully exposed brick walls, but that doesn't mean you can't achieve the look. Whether you use brick veneer or faux brick paneling the outcome can be stunning.
Bower Power
These beautiful walls definitely have my mind spinning with ideas for adding character to my walls!
Tell me, which is your favorite?
