Painted and Distressed Mason Jar Storage

Did you know March is National Craft Month? What could be better than a full month devoted to crafting? I was thrilled when Wayfair invited me to help celebrate with a fun Craft Redux campaign. I was asked to redo one of my first crafts and I couldn't wait to give my favorite distressed mason jars a whole new look!

These are GORGEOUS! Painted and distressed mason jar storage - LITTLE HOUSE OF FOUR.

Here's a look back at the first mason jars I created in November of 2014.

I still love them, but since I didn't include a full tutorial I thought now would a great opportunity to give these little beauties a facelift. This time opting for quilted mason jars instead of half pint, wide mouth jars.

I started by painting three coats of chalk paint on each jar.

***TIP***Acrylic craft paint will peel off when sanding. I recommend sticking with chalk paint if you plan on distressing.

After I had my jars painted I sanded each one then sealed them with creme wax.

The lids and bands got a few coats of ORB spray paint before gluing each piece together. This way the lids come off in one piece and is perfect for storage.

I also used gorilla glue to attach the knobs to each lid.

***tip*** Look for knobs with a removable stem for easy attachment.

I just love how those gorgeous knobs mimic the quilting on the jar. It's like they were meant to be!

I moved the jars onto the new shelf in the hall bathroom and I love how they look. They'll be perfect for storing cotton balls, Q-tips and hair ties.
