(Basement Progress) Painted Fireplace and New Purchases

More often than not, my best design decisions come from spur of the moment ideas.  Ideas that pop into my head and quickly turn into projects before I have time to think about what I'm doing.  That's exactly how a plank wall ended up in our entryway and how our fireplace ended up getting painted last weekend. I whitewashed our fireplace a few years ago, but always felt it had a funky pink hue that didn't jive with the rest of our basement.  Just recently I started throwing around the idea of painting it white or trying to give it a more "old brick" look, but wasn't sold on either idea.  I sought advice from a few blogger friends and that's when Emily from Table and Hearth asked what I thought about painting the fireplace the same color as my doors.  Whoa, why didn't I think of that? Randomness and A Few Recent Purchases

It's Friiidddaaayyyy! Wow, tomorrow is our 11 year wedding anniversary!  It feels like yesterday I was a young 22 year old walking down the aisle to make all my dreams come true (cue the cheesy music).  It's actually pretty scary how fast time flies by.  My kids are now eight and almost six!  How in the world did that even happen?  Life has changed so much in the past 11 years. our house... our jobs... our pets... our friends... our kids... our family... It hasn't always been easy, but I wouldn't trade this life for anything.   ...

Adding Drama to a Boring Office Wall

This post contains affiliate links for your convenience.  For more information visit my disclosure policy here .    It's Monthly DIY Challenge Day! The second Wednesday of every month a group of my blogger friends and I challenge one another to create a project based on a particular theme or material.  This month, Royal Design Studio was gracious enough to sponsor this month's challenge and provide us with a stencil of our choice. My office/studio has been cluttered, unorganized and uninspiring for way too long.  I needed a reason to spruce up the space and what better way than with a fun new wall treatment. ...

{Trash to Treasure} 14 Impressive Secondhand Makeovers

I love updating thrift store makeover's and never get tired of turning something dated, beaten and tattered into something new and beautiful.  There's a great sense of accomplishment when you can completely transform a $5 garage sale item or thrift store find into a unique piece of decor.  Shopping yard sales and sifting through secondhand stores may not be for everyone, but just think about all the money you can save as well as the beautiful pieces you can create. I'm always keeping my eye out for secondhand makeovers and wanted to share a few of my favorites from around the web. ...
