What's better than an easy Dollar Tree makeover? A Dollar Tree makeover that only takes 3 steps to complete!
I know I usually post my Dollar Store DIY projects on the first Monday of the month, but this month you're getting two projects instead of one. I'm just going to assume you don't mind. Last week, I shared how to transform a clear Dollar tree vase and this week is all about making an easy farmhouse tray.
I kind of went on a little Dollar Tree binge recently and ended up coming home with quite a few items. I was too excited to let them sit, so I whipped out a couple craft supplies and got to work.
Affiliate links have been used.
- Dollar Tree wood artwork (they have many sizes)
- Plaid cap assortment
- Minwax dark walnut stain (or stain of your choice)
- Dap Rapid Fuse wood glue
- Paint (I used Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore)
- Paint brush (this brush is my favorite!)
Dollar Tree has a wide variety of wood signs and artwork. They are perfect for creating custom signs, art or you can even turn them over and make an adorable farmhouse tray.
First, paint your tray. I used leftover Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore since it's my favorite color and matches every room in my home.
Second, stain your wood caps.
I bought my wood caps from Walmart (for less than $3.00) then stained them using leftover Minwax dark walnut stain.
Third, glue caps to the bottom of your tray.
I used Dap rapid fuse wood glue since it dries super fast and is great for all wood projects.
Now you have the perfect farmhouse tray!
How long ago did you buy the box/tray? Just went to our DollarTree and they said those were in stock over a month ago.
ReplyDeleteOh no! This particular tray was bought probably close to a month ago. Did they have anything similar? I feel like I always see similar artwork there. Sometimes I do have to hit different Dollar Trees to find certain items though.
DeleteThank you!! I went to 2 stores and no luck. I love all of your fun projects! You are most definitely one of my favorite bloggers.
DeleteOh, I also sent you a message on the string beads. You might not have see it. How long is your strand minus the tassel? Thanks again!!
DeleteYou are the sweetest! My wood bead garland is 4ft minus the tassels. It's a great length, but you can really make them any length you want.
DeleteThanks Katie!!! Gotta string more beads, lol!!!
DeleteI am just inspired by your DIYs and your home in general. Could you tell me what section you got the Plaid caps from at your Wal-mart? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I found them in the craft section where they have their paints, stencils and wood crafts.

ReplyDeleteI’ve noticed lots of cool looking old books in several of your posts. Where do you usually find them?
ReplyDeleteI get all my books from Goodwill, thrift stores or church missions.
