How to Make Inexpensive Dollar Tree Christmas Votive Holders

Beautiful Mercury glass votive holders from Dollar Tree get an inexpensive Christmas makeover.

It's Dollar Store DIY time.  The first Monday of every month I share a Dollar Store makeover as a way of sharing simple ideas so you can create a beautiful home without spending a fortune.  Whether you need to organize, decorate or give a gift, you may be surprised what you can do with Dollar Tree items.

This month, I grabbed a couple glass votive holders and gave them an easy Christmas makeover.  The best part is, all the supplies for this project came from the Dollar Tree or Target's Dollar spot, making these little votive holders super affordable.

Can you believe these Mercury glass votive holders came from Dollar Tree?  They are so pretty (especially twinkling at night) and look just as nice as more expensive ones.

- Dollar Tree votive holder
- Dollar Tree votive candles (pack of 4)
- Wood Christmas tags from Target Dollar Spot (If you are having trouble finding the tags you can print them for free HERE and make your own)
- Red and white bakers twine (Target Dollar Spot)
- Faux Winter greenery

I removed the jute from each wood tag and used bakers twine to attach them to the votive holders for a more cohesive look.

After wrapping the bakers twine around the top of the votive holder a few times I tied it off then hot glued a piece of faux greenery to each one.  The total cost is less than $1.25 a piece, so you could crank out a bunch of these at very little cost.

They are even prettier at night as the light twinkles through the glass.

Wouldn't these little votives be perfect for a place setting or party favor for a holiday get together?  You could also give them as a teacher or neighbor gift and no one would know they came from the Dollar Tree.

***UPDATE***
If you are having trouble finding the tags I created a free printable where you can print and make your own!

    1. I bought the tags a few weeks ago. Our Target recently restocked some of their Dollar Spot Christmas décor (they were pretty wiped out before), so hopefully your local store will too.
