A beautiful distressed vintage dresser painted in a soft pale gray and accented with original hardware and dark wood stain. I hope you had a lovely Memorial Day weekend! We spent our days around the house, relaxing and working on projects and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Since my husband had a few extra days off he helped me move furniture so I could finally photograph a few projects that I finished weeks ago. Today, I'm happy to share a pale gray vintage dresser makeover that will be headed to Sweet Clover for their June sale. This soft light gray is quickly becoming one of my favorite go-to colors and I think it fits this vintage Century dresser well, especially paired with the original brass hardware. ...

Awesome Sales and Deals on Items I Personally Own
Happy Friday! Do you have any fun plans for the holiday weekend? We're laying low, but I'm excited about spending a long holiday weekend home with the family. We have no real plans, which is my favorite way to spend a weekend. It allows for impromptu shopping trips, visits to the skatepark with the kids, project time for me and spur of the moment lunch and dinner dates with the family. Speaking of shopping, I get a lot of questions about the sources of items in my home that I thought I would share a few awesome deals currently happening on home decor. I'll be the first one to admit that a LOT of the items in my home are purchased secondhand. Either from Goodwill, thrift stores, yard sales, Facebook Marketplace, vintage markets or even hand-me-downs. With that being said, there are many times that I buy items new and with Memorial Day sales going on I thought it would be a good time to share some amazing deals on home decor that I personally own. ...

Belly baskets are the perfect versatile home decor accessory that can be bought cheap and easily and inexpensively updated to fit your style. A few months ago, I wrote about my favorite home decor staples and included baskets because they are versatile and perfect for just about any space. Belly baskets are especially great since they are collapsible, affordable, easy to update and great to use for storage or as planters. I recently bought a few to take to the shop and thought I would share some easy and affordable ways to give them a little personality. ...

Painted Vintage Barrister Style Bookcase
Dark gray paint completely transforms and updates a vintage barrister bookcase. I'm always surprised at how much paint can transform furniture, especially when it comes to updating dated pieces like an old oak barrister bookcase. For months, I had been searching for an affordable barrister bookcase that wasn't $300-$400 and I FINALLY found one. It wasn't a true vintage barrister bookcase, but the price was right and the seller was nice enough to meet me at a location that knocked 20 minutes off my drive. So, I hopped in my car and headed out for a little road trip. I don't really want to call this oak barrister style bookcase dated, it just wasn't my style. Don't get me wrong, I love using wood tones in my home, but the color of this particular cabinet was just a little too 1990's for my taste. It reminded me of the builder grade cabinets in our previous home and that wasn't really something I wanted to replicate in our current...

Sweet Clover Mother's Day Sip and Shop This Weekend
A collection of beautiful custom painted furniture and unique vintage finds at Sweet Clover barn! Happy Wednesday! I could not be more excited about today's post! If you remember, a few months back I announced that I was joining my friend Cassie in her booth at Sweet Clover barn in Frederick, MD . I "met" Cassie through blogging years ago and have always been a fan of her eclectic, vintage, boho style. Over the years, I'd message her every now and then to pick her brain about design and color questions then we officially met about two years ago at the Haven conference in Atlanta, GA. I knew she was a great person, but after getting to know her better I can truly say she is one of the funniest, sweetest and most genuine people I know. I am incredibly lucky to be working alongside her and look forward to sharing our Sweet Clover space with you each month. The upcoming May sale is the first sale that Cassie and I are collaborating together on and...

Furniture Makeover: How to Repair Broken Corners on Furniture
Don't let a little damage deter you from buying a piece of furniture. With the right product, you can easily repair chipped and broken corners, edges and gashes to make them look like new again! (I'm interrupting this months Dollar Store DIY series to share another furniture makeover. I'll resume the regularly scheduled program next month) Do you buy furniture and other home decor items from Facebook Marketplace? It took me awhile to get on board with buying over Facebook (mainly because going alone to the homes of strangers totally freaks me out), but I've been trying to get over my paranoia and step outside my comfort zone. Plus, it's one of the best ways to snag deals, so you gotta do what you gotta do, right? I've been able to get some amazing pieces at great prices and other times I'm too late, sellers don't always respond or they sell it out from under you. It can definitely be frustrating, but incredibly rewarding at the same ...

A Fresh New Look for a Dated Console Table
A dated 80's wood console table gets a fresh farmhouse makeover! Many of you know that I stop in my local Goodwill at least once or twice a week. I pass it on my way to Walmart and it's right by the grocery store, which makes it super convenient to pop in and see what's new. About a month ago, I spotted an 80's wood console table that I contemplated buying, but it wasn't quite my style and the price was a little steep for my thrifty budget. Well, lo and behold weeks later it was still there with a color of the week tag. I figured why not and loaded it into my car with the help of very nice older gentleman. The curvy feminine lines and distressed appearance give it a farmhouse feel that isn't quite my style, but I know it will make a great addition to the right home. ...
