The best stylish and budget-friendly mid century modern accent chairs!
The kitchen and first-floor renovation are coming to an end, which means it's time to think about decorating, in particular, finding a pair of mid century modern accent chairs for the living room.
Removing four walls created the open floor plan I desired, but also created a few new design challenges, mainly furniture placement. Unfortunately, I had to let some furniture go that no longer worked with the new layout, but it's been fun hunting for pieces that better fit the style and function of the new open floor plan.
Lately, I've been on the lookout for a pair of medium size mid century modern accent chairs and wanted to share a few of my favorite budget-friendly picks.
Previously, our sofa sat against the wall by the stairs, which is now open to the basement. I could have kept the sofa in the same location, but it would have blocked the new black railing, defeating the purpose of opening the stairs.
Placing the sofa in front of the window was not the ideal location, but ended up being the best solution for our space.
Now I'm left with needing to bring in additional seating while also keeping the stairs as open as possible. Replacing the old bulky chair with two medium size mid century modern accent chairs would add more seating and better balance the space.
A few weeks ago, I found a pair of gorgeous dark gray MCM chairs at HomeGoods and HAD to have them.
Unfortunately, they were too small for the space, but I couldn't bring myself to return them, so they got moved to the dining room instead. I like the idea of having extra seating available (especially since our table expands to seat 12), but now I'm back to square one finding two living room chairs.
Here are a few of my favorite budget-friendly mid century modern accent chairs that I'm currently eyeing. Which one is your favorite?

I love the 7th one from the top! But it looks like it’s navy? In a dark grey, it would be gorgeous!
