Budget-friendly, simple and neutral fall decorating ideas for the perfect cozy vibe!
I'm not wishing the year away and I definitely enjoy the long lazy days of summer, but cooler weather is fast approaching and it's time to get the house cozy for fall.
I'm a neutral lover and tend to keep my decor neutral even for seasonal decorating.
Neutral doesn't have to mean boring though. You can absolutely use neutrals to create a comfortable and cozy home, perfect for fall.
I've been transitioning my fall decor to more natural neutrals and wanted to share a few of my favorite budget-friendly, timeless fall decorating ideas!
AFFORDABLE, SIMPLE AND NEUTRAL FALL DECORATING IDEAS!
1. Use vintage amber bottles as vases
It should be no surprise that I love vintage amber bottles and decor. They are a great way to add a touch of vintage to your home and are perfect to use in your everyday decor, especially during fall. Bonus, they pair beautifully with greenery and dried fall florals.
2. Opt for faux florals or dried foliage from your yard.
3. Add texture with vintage books
I shop auctions almost daily, so I come across a ton of vintage books that would otherwise be thrown away if not bid on. Many times, I've been able to snag (save) a box of vintage books for $1! I keep them and use them as-is if I can, but if they are in bad shape, moldy or falling apart then I rip the cover off (and any moldy pages) and use them to add texture to my home decor. The natural and neutral elements of books are perfect for fall decor!
4. Accent with deer antlers
Love them or hate them, decorating with antlers is fairly common. The organic shape adds the perfect natural element and texture to home decor. I like using antlers all year long (they look great atop or in front of a stack of neutral books), but I find them especially perfect for fall.
*** I'm an animal lover (heck, I don't even eat beef, pork or venison!), so please don't attack me for using antlers or taxidermy in home decor ***
5. Add in brass accents
Brass is dark, neutral and perfect for fall. Swap out light and brightly colored pots for darker natural tones to bring texture and depth to your home during the cooler seasons.
6. Add natural elements to wood bowls or glass jars.
Inexpensive faux pumpkins are easy to update and look great tossed in a bowl or jar. Don't want to use pumpkins? Artichokes, pears, pinecones, acorns or gourds are fantastic options too.
7. Swap out summer throw pillows for fall neutrals
Changing throw pillows is one of my favorite ways to change up the look in my spaces. Simply swapping pillows from one room to another can give a room a whole new look. Deep rust, dark olive, faux leather and charcoal gray are some of my go-to colors for fall.
***TIP*** Save money (and space!) by investing in good feather pillow inserts and only swapping out the covers. Linen and Cloth is one of my favorite sources for quality pillow covers.
I'm a throw blanket lover and have them all over the house! Most of mine are seasonless, but if you use brightly colored lighter-weight blankets for spring/summer consider swapping them out for thicker blankets for fall. The thicker and chunkier the better! The added texture will give your home the perfect cozy fall vibe.
9. Lite a fall candle
It doesn't get any cheaper or simpler than lighting a candle to bring all the feelings (and smells!) of fall into your home.
10. Bring Amber into your home decor
I have two sets of six vintage Whitehall tumbler glasses, one amber and one green. During fall, I swap out the green for amber, which instantly gives my kitchen the perfect fall vibe.
No matter if you can't wait for fall and decorate early or wait until the official start of the season. These small and simple changes can give your home the perfect cozy fall vibe without breaking the bank.
