Simple and budget-friendly patio makeover just in time for fall!

Maryland has officially entered "wear a sweatshirt in the morning and regret it in the afternoon" weather.
The mornings are cool and damp, the days are hot and the evenings are dark and chilly.
Figuring out what to wear takes some getting used to, but it's still hands-down the best time of year, especially when it comes to outdoor projects.
I recently gave the shed deck a makeover, which lead to staining the deck supports on the main deck, which then led to updating the back patio.
I have bigger plans for the back patio, but for now, I wanted to give the space a simple and affordable fall refresh. Here's a glimpse of how the patio looked just after I removed the old furniture.
Thanks to Walmart Home, their affordable prices, stylish fall decor and one-stop shopping, I was able to refresh the old furniture and give the back patio a quick update, just in time for fall.
I started by cleaning then spray painting the old iron furniture with Rust-Oleum black spray paint in Satin.
While I waited for the paint to dry on the chairs, I power washed then stained the concrete patio with black concrete stain. I was hoping for a deeper darker finish but even after two coats of stain, I wasn't 100% happy with how it turned out. I'm going to live with it for a while though since it's still an improvement to the dingy original concrete.
Once the chairs and patio were dry, I was able to add a few affordable decor accents to give the patio a simple and neutral fall vibe.
I've updated faux Walmart pumpkins in the past, but for this makeover, I wanted to use real pumpkins. I went to a couple different Walmart stores (my local store only had white and orange pumpkins) and found the perfect green cinderella pumpkins for less than $7/piece.
While I was at Walmart, I also picked up a couple ferns and evergreen plants to flank the basement door and two cozy sweater knit pillows for the updated chairs.
The throw and knit pillows add loads of texture to the patio and are perfect for fall. They are not for indoor/outdoor use, so I'll bring them in and use them indoors when I'm not enjoying the patio.
