A vintage modern mudroom decorated with simple neutral Christmas decor!
It's time to start Christmas decorating!
The mudroom is one of my favorite rooms in the house and where I was most excited to decorate.
Last year, I added a few pops of red to my Christmas decor, but this year, I kept my holiday decor completely neutral. It's a little vintage, a little modern, a lot neutral and completely transitions from Christmas to winter.
I primarily stick to neutrals, but I still like to change my holiday decor a little from year to year. Buying all new decor can get expensive though and in my opinion, is a little unnecessary. By making a few simple changes, you can get a new holiday look for less.
- TIPS FOR GETTING A NEW HOLIDAY LOOK FOR LESS -
-ROTATE DECOR FROM YEAR TO YEAR: Changing where you hang your favorite Christmas art or wreath or where you place your tree are super simple ways to change the look and overall feel of a room.
- SHOP SECONDHAND, AUCTIONS AND FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE: Some of my favorite new pieces this holiday season came from auctions. I was able to snag vintage skies, snowshoes and sleigh bells for crazy low prices.
- TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PRINTABLES: Pintables are super easy to print at home and you can find everything from gift tags, cards, posters, banners, etc.
- UPDATE AFFORDABLE DECOR TO MATCH YOUR STYLE: Are you handy? Do you like crafting and DIY projects? With a little paint and inexpensive supplies you can transform affordable decor into beautiful holiday items to fit your style.
Over the past couple years, I've updated oversized jingle bells, hanging bells, a bunch of Dollar Tree items and repurposed a holiday burlap sac.
- CHANGE RIBBON AND/OR METALS: Do you like using ribbon on your tree and in your holiday decorating? I'm not much into ribbon, but it can make a big impact to your holiday decor. Changing ribbon color from year to year can make a huge impact in the look of your holiday decorated home.
If you're like me and are drawn to metals, try mixing them up from year to year. If you used gold last year, use silver this year. Rub 'n Buff does wonders for updating, altering and changing the metallic finish to just about any surface.
I kept my real plants, but replaced all the faux greenery with winter greens. (You can find my favorite realistic greenery HERE.)

Most of the holiday decor I used is from last year, but the addition of a few authentic vintage items and realistic greenery give the space a fresh new look. It's simple and neutral and beautifully blends my love of vintage and modern.
