ADD CHARACTER AND INTEREST TO YOUR HOME WITH THIS VINTAGE-INSPIRED DINING ROOM MOOD BOARD!
I finally removed the dining room Christmas tree and decorations the other week. It was the last room I needed to put away, and I was dragging my feet.
Once the room was cleared, I was left with a blank slate and the urge to change the decor in the space.
Does anyone else feel their home looks bare and empty after putting away holiday decor? Do you get the urge to change your home this time of year?
Before I get to the dining room mood board details, I wanted to share a few budget-friendly tips to help you save money when redecorating and making changes to your home.
BUDGET-FRIENDLY REDECORATING TIPS AND IDEAS
1. KEEP WHAT YOU CAN
What do you love about the room? You can save money by keeping the current paint color(s), area rug, or large pieces of furniture. Reusing what you already have will allow you to replace what no longer brings you joy with items that do.
2. BUY SECONDHAND
Are you looking to replace furniture or decor? Shopping smart and buying secondhand can save you hundreds on home furnishings. Auctions, thrift stores, Facebook Marketplace, and estate sales are ideal sources for shopping secondhand. Are you uneasy about buying used furniture? There are model home inventory auctions where you can snag brand new furniture for a fraction of the retail price.
3. TAKE YOUR TIME
Creating a home takes time and should be enjoyed and not rushed. Taking your time allows you to wait for sales, hunt for secondhand items, and not settle for furniture and decor that doesn't bring you joy. Rushing to finish a room in a specific time frame can result in overspending, settling, and unnecessary stress.
4. SPLURGE SPARINGLY
Buying smart, waiting for deals, and shopping secondhand can help you save a lot of money. This allows you to splurge on one or two key pieces that can make a huge impact. A one-of-kind piece of vintage furniture, artwork, rug, or light fixture are great items that may be worth splurging on.
5. SELL OLD DECOR
You may be surprised how much you can make from selling old or unwanted furniture and decor. If selling on Facebook Marketplace makes you anxious, auctions or consignment shops are other great alternatives.
6. SHOP YOUR HOME
My favorite way to redecorate is to shop my home. Swapping artwork, rugs, pillows, plants, and decor from one room to another can create different looks without spending money.

I considered all these ideas when planning the changes I wanted to make to my dining room. Although, some of the items I chose and linked to are "splurges" they are also for inspiration.
For instance, the beautiful chandelier is way out of my price range, but I would love to find a similar vintage alternative. It would make such a statement in the dining room! The reclaimed pine table, gold bar cart, decanters, and vintage gold frames are also ideal pieces to hunt for while thrifting and auctioning.
